Adkins has a CV and a half for what we need. A great pal of mine Adam Simpson who sighted him as the ideal man for the job last season must've been delighted when we announced Adkins as manager.
What he inherits is a talented, underused and disjointed large squad. A decent manager, providing the group stayed free of any injuries would have a chance of reaching the top 6 if not the top two. He must be thinking this is very much game on.
United's board will always frustrate me with their decisions and the timing of said decisions. This time to decision is right albeit after that poor excuse for a central defender Mr Mceveley was offered a new deal by the old regime just weeks before.
So as Adkins assembles a squad ready to challenge at the right end of the league this year I am excited but ultimately cautious considering it is after all the Blades. Lets see if we can move forward together, united as one.
